Melania Trump’s National #ReadABookDay Tweet Draws Mixed Reactions from Social Media

First Lady Melania Trump celebrated National Read A Book Day with a tweet that caught the attention of many on social media Wednesday. The FLOTUS encouraged her followers to read a book and expand their minds to the mark the occasion, which is observed annually on Sept. 6.

“On National #ReadABookDay I encourage everyone to read a book,” the first lady tweeted Wednesday morning. “Let every page educate you & take you on an exciting journey!” AOL reports that several people supported the FLOTUS’ tweet and commended her message. One person even shared that they had just finished reading President Donald Trump’s “The Art of the Deal.”

Many, on the other hand, cheekily suggested that she and her husband take the tweet to heart—offering a plethora of reading suggestions, including the Constitution, Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and science books. Additionally, NextGen America suggested that the president read books written for and about undocumented immigrants following yesterday’s decision to rescind the DACA program.

Others, meanwhile, questioned what Trump was reading at the moment, pointing to a report that claimed he “does not read books.” Maggie Haberman alleged that Trump ended his evenings by watching television. Trump’s “The Art of the Deal” ghostwriter Tony Schwartz also said last year, “I seriously doubt that Trump has ever read a book straight through in his adult life.”
