Lolo Jones was the first celebrity eliminated from the current season of Dancing With The Stars. Lolo and her pro partner Keo Motsepe performed a clunky cha cha that didn’t sit well with judges or DWTS viewers.
Lolo remained stone-faced during the results portion of the show, but she did give a nice concession speech, telling her fans, “I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Betsey had a malfunction with the boa thing [while] honestly it was steps on my part. She deserves to stay. … Everyone here did a great job.”
The Olympians disqualification kept Betsey Johnson and Tony Dovolani in the competition, despite their malfunction. In jeopardy were Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev and Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater.
The results show started with a hot dance routine from the seasons pro ladies, choreographed by Mandy Moore, with a jive encore by Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson
The shows smoke-filled theme was also kept alive with a surprise appearance by Smokey Robinson, who sang a new version of “My Girl” featuring Aloe Blacc. That song was joined by Witney and Mark Ballas who shared a dance routine and a platonic kiss.
The best part of the show? Watching Derek Hough’s funny “DWTS” audition tape from 2006. Hough was just 21 at the time but he claims “Not much has changed!”
In the too much information category, Artem let America known that he was wearing purple underwear in honor of Lea Thompson’s “Back to the Future” Calvin Klein line.
The most inspiring quote of the night goes to Betsey Johnson who told viewers, “Age is a matter of mind: If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
There was also an unintentional naughty moment when Peta Murgatroyd told Tommy Chong, “I want to go all the way with you.” She quickly realized the meaning those words could hold and retorted with, “That sounds very sexual, but I didn’t mean it like that.”
