Are you having a hard time finding a movie suitable for the entire family? Well, you could do what Kirk Cameron did and just make your own movie. The former Growing Pains star and current evangelist said that he made his new film, Mercy Rule, simply because he wanted to make a movie that his whole family could enjoy.
Cameron said: “My wife and I are always looking for a great new movie to watch on movie night and it’s hard to find films that are fun and inspiring and that are going to build up our faith in God and our strength as a family … So we decided we would make one and we made it right here in our own backyard with a local little league team and it’s a movie where family learn the lessons of mercy, patience, sacrifice and trusting God.”
I have some great news: Mercy Rule is now available at Walmart! This fun new family film features both Chelsea… http://t.co/4ybNym2N5Z

Cameron said that he doesn’t really have any interest in adhering to Hollywood’s standards. Instead, he chooses to make films that reflect his own beliefs.
Cameron said: “The films that I make… are really about themes that I think resonate in people’s heart, at least they do in my own family. So I’m always going to make movies that I believe in, that I can give 100 percent to, that I think are going to be offering people something good.”
Kirk Cameron rose to fame on the sitcom Growing Pains but he didn’t really pursue a Hollywood career. The actor said that he has a great responsibility to use his fame the right way and that he hopes that other religious actors follow suit.
Cameron said: “With the privilege of a platform comes great responsibility … [We’ve] got to be careful with what we say and how we say it and everything should be seasoned with grace and while I certainly I don’t do that perfectly, I strive to do it increasingly.”
