Over the past month Athlete’s Brand partnered with Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher, Jake Diekman, have started selling Gut It Out t-shirts to help raise awareness, and funds, to find a cure for Chrones and Ulcerative Colitis, two forms of IBD.

This shirt, which is reminiscent of a tattoo symbolizing Diekman’s own struggles and challenges when fighting to overcome and continue living with his diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis, is becoming a symbol for patients and supporters internationally.

Fans and supporters can see more about Jake on his Twitter feed or Facebook page.

As someone who has been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis for almost three years, I am well aware of the constant day-to-day struggles and find that Diekman’s drive to succeed is a great motivation to me.  I also am extremely grateful to his fundraising activities which include the Gut It Out t-shirt.  I know I am going to try and purchase one as soon as possible, since the shirt will no longer be available after April 6, 2015.  Here is the link to find the T-shirts, and, if you want to learn more about the idea of Gut It Out, just check out the hash-tag #GutItOut.

In all honesty, this man is a hero to sufferers of IBD everywhere.  He is using his position as an athlete to help find a cure for a disease that many people didn’t even realize existed until recently.

If I wasn’t already a fan of the Phillies, and a Cabrini Alum who knows the importance of Cabrini Night at the Phillies, I would switch allegiances to cheer them on to victory every game!  Thank you Jake for your motivational words and actions, for your fundraising to find a cure, and your unwavering resolve to Gut It Out!
