A common refrain among women using dating apps is the out-of-the-blue awkward messages they receive from men to whom they’ve never spoken before who either don’t know that they are being rude and inappropriate, or maybe (probably?) just don’t care. So when this began happening to Emma Tsumura, an illustrator from Toronto, she decided to draw sketches of the men to accompany the things they say when they contact her.

To share her work with others who have experienced similar strange messages, she created an Instagram account, @ok_cucumber, to publish her illustrations.
