A bonafide Halo fan builds a massive Halo ship erected completely from Lego. The fan is Lee Jones, and the creation took 3.5 years and $7,000 worth of Lego pieces.

The ship is from Halo’s UNSC spaceship the Pillar of Autumn. It stands at over six feet in length and weighs over 200 pounds. Jones got every little bit of detail of the ship down, including its massive engine.

For Jones, though, constructing a massive Lego Halo ship is just another day at the office for him. Some of his previous Lego creation includes a life-size piece of Agent Smith from the Matrix saga. He also created a balrog creature from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth novels.

Despite the length of time and money spent on the ship, Jones reported that the ship suffered extensive damage while on the road after a display show in Seattle; once it reaches home, it will be dismantled. He is already focusing on his next Lego project. While he hasn’t released the details yet, he did say that it will also be of another spacecraft, though not from the Halo franchise.

Lee Jones’ masterful Lego sculptures may just inspire the Lego company to release Halo toy sets, which it currently doesn’t at this time. Mega Bloks, however, a similar and competing toy brand, does have its own range of Halo sets.

Jones isn’t the only man to create giant artwork out of Lego. In fact, those small connectable bricks are far from just toys and have been used in many instances in place of a paintbrush and canvas. Other notable Lego artwork includes:

• The train from Back to the Future 3
• A 4.5 meter replica of the USS Harry Truman
• A giant advent calendar made by a certified Lego technician from the UK
• A 30 feet sea monster
• The Serenity ship from the sci-fi show Firefly

A giant Halo ship crafted from Lego just shows that there is no limit to the imagination when it comes to building life-size model sculptures out of a children’s toy.
