It’s been 10 years since The Devil Wears Prada film was released (the book on which the movie is based was released in 2003) and Anne Hathaway acknowledged the milestone anniversary on social media this week.

The film starred Anne Hathaway as recent Northwestern graduate and hopeful budding journalist, Andrea (“Andy”). She needs a job but the New York Times isn’t calling, so she settles for a job in the fashion industry as Runway magazine editor Miranda Priestly’s junior personal assistant. This means nothing to her even though she’s told that a million girls would kill for that job.

She criticizes fashion and generally doesn’t really care what she looks like in her frumpy sweaters and pleated skirts. But after Miranda drills her down about it, she comes to understand fashion and the people in that industry better. She gets a total makeover and jumps to serve Miranda at all hours of the day and night. Naturally, her relationship with her friends, as well as with her boyfriend, Nate, all suffer, and she’s forced to make some decisions.

Meryl Streep plays Miranda Priestly in the film, a character widely assumed to be based on Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

When Hathaway posted on Facebook about the 10 year anniversary, her Prada co-star Adrian Grenier was among those who ‘liked’ it. Grenier played Nate, Andy’s boyfriend, in the film. The Devil Wears Prada was a Top 20 film in the U.S. and overseas in 2006 and grossed over $300 million.
