Carrie Ann Inaba calls it a “joyous” performance, adding that her balance and leg action was very crisp. Len Goodman calls her “Queen Victoria.” Bruno Tonioli predicts that she will continue to get better over the next several weeks as she continues to learn how to dance without any feeling in her legs. They score a 19 out of 30.

According to ABC, Arlen is a former paralympian swimmer, Paralympic gold medalist and world record holder. “At the young age of 11, the lifelong swimmer and athlete fell ill with Transverse Myelitis, a rare viral disease that left her in a four-year long coma and without use of her legs for nearly 10 years. Unbeknownst to those around her at the time, Arlen could hear the conversations going on in her hospital room while she was in the coma as doctors expressed losing hope for any sort of improvement in her condition. However, with unwavering support from her family, her health improved tremendously.” She has since become a television personality with ESPN and keynote speaker at conferences such as TEDx.
