The third couple to go home in season 24 is Mr. T and Kym Herjavec. Erika Jayne and partner Gleb Savchenko were also in jeopardy. While sad about leaving, Mr. T says it was a great experience.

Tonight, the couple danced a moving waltz to “Amazing Grace” as part of Most Memorable Year night. The dance, which was dedicated to the faith that got Mr. T through his cancer diagnosis, earned a 28 out of 40—their highest score in the competition. Last week, for Vegas Night, they danced an elegant foxtrot to “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head,” earning a 24. In week two, they performed a “Rocky”-themed paso doble to “Eye of the Tiger,” scoring a 22. During the premiere, they danced a spirited cha cha to the “A-Team” theme and scored a 20.

Mr. T and Partner Kym Herjavec Eliminated

Judge Bruno Tonioli praised Mr. T’s heart of gold in the competition.

Social Media Reacts to Mr. T and Kym Herjavec Elimination

According to ABC, “In the mid-70s, he found a job as a doorman. His days as a military policeman helped him gain a reputation as one of Chicago’s toughest, and most infamous, bouncers. Always the consummate showman, he adopted a Mohawk hairstyle inspired by a National Geographic photo of an African Mandikan warrior. He started sporting piles of gold jewelry, which he claimed to have taken from misbehaving customers. He also adopted the name Mr. T, claiming the new moniker would force customers to show him respect.”

Now in its 24th season, “Dancing with the Stars” is hosted by Tom Bergeron and sports broadcaster Erin Andrews. The judging panel is composed of ballroom experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli. Their scores, along with America’s votes, determine who gets to stay and who is sent home each week as couples vie for the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

The current contestants include Olympic gold medalist gymnast Simone Biles with partner Sasha Farber, Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei with Val Chmerkovskiy and this season’s Bachelor Nick Viall with new mom Peta Murgatroyd. Other stars who will be competing include Heather Morris, Bonner Bolton, David Ross, Erika Jayne, Rashad Jennings and Nancy Kerrigan.

“Dancing with the Stars” airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
