The next couple to take the dance floor is Simone Biles and Sasha Farber, dancing a Charleston to “Charleston” by Bob Wilson & His Varsity Rhythm Boys with a silent film genre theme.
Bruno Tonioli praises the “fizz and sparkle” of the dance, while Carrie Ann Inaba points out how difficult the routine was. She adds, however, that Simone made it look effortless. Len Goodman says that he loved the characterization and Mandy Moore thinks Simone was on auto-pilot during certain parts. She commends the performance overall. They score a 37.

The seven remaining couples celebrate “A Night at the Movies” tonight, dancing to songs that capture the essence of various movie genres, including horror, foreign, action, romance and more. “Dancing with the Stars” and “La La Land” choreographer Mandy Moore serves as guest judge. Featured dance styles include Charleston, Argentine tango, paso doble, tango and salsa. The couple with the highest score will be granted immunity from this evening’s elimination. The other six couples will participate in a Dance-Off for additional points. Two couples will be sent home tonight as part of the first double elimination of the season.

According to ABC, Biles, 19, “is already considered one of the best and most decorated gymnasts in the history of the sport. She was adopted by her grandparents at a young age, and they have been a major influence in her life, introducing her to the sport of gymnastics. She was always jumping around at a young age and was introduced to the sport on a school field trip to Bannon’s Gymnastix at the age of six. While she trains close to 35 hours per week, Biles knows how to keep things fun and is known for inventing new skills during training.”
Now in its 24th season, “Dancing with the Stars” is hosted by Tom Bergeron and sports broadcaster Erin Andrews. The judging panel is composed of ballroom experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli. Their scores, along with America’s votes, determine who gets to stay and who is sent home each week as couples vie for the coveted Mirrorball trophy.
The current contestants include Olympic gold medalist gymnast Simone Biles with partner Sasha Farber, Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei with Val Chmerkovskiy and this season’s Bachelor Nick Viall with new mom Peta Murgatroyd. The remaining stars include Bonner Bolton, David Ross, Rashad Jennings and Nancy Kerrigan.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
