The final couple to enter the ballroom for the first round is James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess, dancing a 1940s-inspired jitterbug to “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra.

Carrie Ann Inaba says James disappears into the role Sharna creates and praises the performance, Len Goodman calls him a “major contender,” but says he wishes there had been more jitterbug. Julianne Hough says she wanted more (but in a positive way), while Bruno Tonioli calls him “unstoppable.” He says it could have been more in sync, though; but recognizes that Sharna’s knee injury could have impacted the performance. They score a 36.

It’s “Eras Night” and the dance floor is ready for a serious dose of nostalgia. The remaining couples will perform dance routines inspired by various decades to dance styles such as the Charleston, foxtrot and jitterbug. Head judge Len Goodman returns to the judging panel this evening. The first set of team dances also occurs tonight, with Team Past (James, Calvin, Ryan, Maureen) going head-to-head against Team Future (Marilu, Laurie, Terra, Jana). Who will come out on top? One couple will be eliminated at the end of tonight’s episode, leaving seven couples who will be preparing spooky performances for Halloween Week next Monday.
