Going into the grand finale of season 19 of “Dancing With the Stars,” everyone had received perfect scores from their freestyles. From their first dances, however, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson were at the top of the leaderboard with Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas; Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy following.
For their freestyle, Mark and Sadie performed a fun and lively dance to the Super Mario Brothers theme song; Alfonso and Witney danced with a jazzy flair to “Sing, Sing, Sing,” before switching to part of “Apache (Jump On It)”; and Janel and Val delivered a romantic routine to “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).”
The finale also brought back the previously eliminated stars to be reunited with the pro dancers, each doing short dances throughout the evening.

A super funny part of the finale was when they showed a spoof video of the finalists sing a special version of the song from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” with a little twist for “Dancing With the Stars.”
That tribute to the Fresh Prince was epic!!! #DWTS @DancingABC

The finalists performed a previously-done performance as well. Witney and Alfonso did “The Carlton,” which was a big highlight of this season.
For their final dance, Sadie and Mark had a samba, quickstep fusion. All finalists had only 24 hours to practice their fusion challenge in order to gain extra points from the judges. Sadie came out in a glittering dress, clearly enjoying their final performance. They received a perfect score of 40.
Janel and Val’s fusion dance was a foxtrot/paso. Val said he was going to miss dancing with Janel but was excited to get to know her “outside of these crazy walls.” They impressed the judges with their fierce dance and added an additional 40 points.
In the very last dance of the season, Alfonso and Witney put on a dazzling performance to a fusion of the cha cha and Argentine tango. Carrie Ann called him a “glitter ball” and they too garnered an extra 40 points. Alfonso also announced that he would be going on the “Dancing With the Stars” tour along with the rest of the pros.
Third place went to Janel and Val, with Mark and Sadie coming in second place. Alfonso and Witney won the season 19 mirrorball trophy.
It is Witney’s first time winning the mirrorball trophy.
Season 20 will begin in March with the show’s 10th anniversary.
