The last couple to perform in the first round is David Ross and Lindsay Arnold, dancing a waltz to “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw.
Len Goodman calls the dance poignant, adding that it was David’s best dance of the season. Julianne Hough says she has really seen growth and loves David and Lindsay’s partnership. She adds that he really embodies the spirit of the competition. Bruno Tonioli praises his “love, truth and honesty.” Carrie Ann Inaba calls them “lady and the champ,” a play on their team name. They score a 36.

Welcome to the quarterfinals! The five remaining couples will dance to songs picked by their pro partner that best describe their celebrity teammate. In round two, couples will perform in the Trio Round with troupe members chosen by the judges. Featured dance styles include foxtrot, Argentine tango, jive, jazz, paso doble and contemporary. Four couples will earn their spots in the semifinals next week.

According to ABC, Ross “is a two time World Series Champion, having won World Series titles in 2013 with the Boston Red Sox and with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. During his 15 year Major League career, he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. Recently retired, Ross now serves as a Special Assistant for the Chicago Cubs and also works as a TV Baseball Analyst for ESPN.” His book his set to be published in May 2017.
Now in its 24th season, “Dancing with the Stars” is hosted by Tom Bergeron and sports broadcaster Erin Andrews. The judging panel is composed of ballroom experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli. Their scores, along with America’s votes, determine who gets to stay and who is sent home each week as couples vie for the coveted Mirrorball trophy.
The remaining contestants include Simone Biles with Sasha Farber, Normani Kordei with Val Chmerkovskiy, Bonner Bolton with Sharna Burgess, David Ross with Lindsay Arnold and Rashad Jennings with Emma Slater.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. on ABC.
