The “Pretty Little Liars” cast members are saying goodbye and proving to each other just how true the phrase, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard,” is. Freeform and creator I. Marlene King announced in August that the 7-year-old series would officially end in 2017.

King, the five main girls (Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Lucy Hale and Sasha Pieterse), among other cast members such as Keegan Allen, Janel Parrish, Tyler Blackburn and Ian Harding, took the time to start saying their goodbyes as the series wrapped production today.

The cast and crew also received yearbooks and custom-made jackets to commemorate the end of seven successful seasons. Benson documented Allen’s last day on Snapchat yesterday, as did many other cast members through photos and videos.

King wrote this on Instagram today: “When I call ‘cut’ on the very last scene, all five PLLs will be in the shot. Tears will be spilled, gifts will be exchanged, and final memories will be made. The most meaningful gift, however, is that we call ourselves ‘PLL Family’ because that is how much we mean to each other.”

Take a look at how the cast and crew are saying goodbye to the series:

“Pretty Little Liars” Cast Pen Heartfelt Goodbyes to Each Other

In these last hours embodying our characters, I want to reflect on a great love I have for you. Last night, I was very present and took the time to really look at you as you are now. I have grown up with you and learned so much from you. I'm a better person because of you. I will continue to look up to you as an actor, because you care so deeply for our craft, and bring the greatest truth to everything you do. I absolutely love you Troian Bellisario. And as our characters drift off into space and away from our control, I remain grateful I could inhabit their existence with you right there to ground and protect me. I will miss these subtle moments and quick, brief glimpses of you and this whole surreal experience.

And now, it's time to say my final goodbye … In the wee hours of this morning I did my final scenes as Melissa Hastings. I don't think it's quite hit me that this show that so quickly became like a home base for me, or that this character whom I have learned so much from and grew SO much with is now over. So much has happened over these last 7 years, but through all these changes, 'pretty little liars' stood as a constant space to go back to. Thank you to everyone involved and thank you to all who love and watch this show. It's been such an honor to play this character and work with such an amazing cast and crew. And a special thank you to @imarleneking for creating this world for us all to get lost in. Feeling so grateful for you and these last 7 years. #byebyePLL #ByebyeMelissa

#Repost @cosmopolitan with @repostapp ・・・ @imarleneking opens up about the end of #prettylittleliars (grab a tissue, PLL fans ): "Today marks the series wrap on 'Pretty Little Liars,' my home away from home for the last seven seasons. When I call 'cut' on the very last scene, all five PLLs will be in the shot. Tears will be spilled, gifts will be exchanged, and final memories will be made. The most meaningful gift, however, is that we call ourselves 'PLL Family' because that is how much we mean to each other. We have created a worldwide family of fans who have come together to watch and celebrate the show. Friendships have been made and sealed over the love our passionate fans have for 'PLL.' In an age where technology often separates people, we used social media to bring them together. In season six, Spencer quoted A. A. Milne, author of 'Winnie the Pooh': 'How lucky I am to have something that makes saying good-bye so hard.' And those words have never spoken to me so loudly. Thank you to the cast, the crew, and all the fans who have kept Rosewood alive; we would be nowhere without you. And as this chapter ends, to my 'PLL' family all over the world, I won’t say good-bye, I’ll say, 'See you soon, bitches.'" – I. Marlene King, #cosmoinstagramcolumnist #pll
