Country singer Carrie Underwood appeared on NBC’s Today on Friday to discuss her “weird” pregnancy, and to announce her upcoming greatest hits album.

The former American Idol star opened up for the first time about what it feels like to be expecting her first child with husband Mike Fisher.

When they first learned of the pregnancy Underwood told Fisher, “‘I’m gonna be a mom. You’re gonna be a dad.’ It’s like, is this real life? But we’re really excited.” She also says, “It’s still kind of weird, to be honest.”

Underwood says she is really happy to have family support, “I have a wonderful mother so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think that we’ll be good.”

The upcoming arrival of baby Underwood isn’t the only reason the famed singer is excited, she also has a new greatest hits album on the way which will drop on December 9. Underwood is also working on a new song for the album and she gave Hoda Kotb a sneak peak.

“The song is called ‘Something in the Water’ and it’s going to be a single off my greatest hits album,” she revealed. “I’m really excited that people are going to hear it Monday.” Underwood says the song is “about changing your life for the better and having that ‘aha moment’ to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward.”

In the meantime Carrie Underwood will join Fun., Jay Z, No Doubt, The Roots, Sting and Tiësto for Saturday’s Global Citizen Festival concert in New York City’s Central Park
