What’s the latest scoop in ice cream news? Well today, Blue Bell Ice Cream announced the release of their brand new flavor, Cookie Two Step. And it will surely have you two-steppin’ all the way to the freezer!

The new flavor is available starting today and, according to Blue Bell’s press release, features vanilla ice cream and a pinch of brown sugar, as well as “chunks of chocolate creme filled cookies and tasty chocolate chip cookie dough pieces.”

The press release goes on to say, according to Ricky Dickson, vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Bell, “Cookie Two Step combines ingredients from two of our top-selling flavors, making it a perfect combination that you have to try.”

Other Blue Bell Ice Cream flavors include Milk Chocolate, Cherry Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road and more. The Texas-based company opened its doors in 1907 and became known as Blue Bell Creameries in 1930, having been named after the native bluebell wildflower.

In 2015, Blue Bell came under investigation by the FDA for Listeria outbreaks. In March of that year, Blue Bell had taken the affected products off the market and by April, they voluntarily recalled all of their products due to the health risk. They resumed production in July 2015.

The delectable new concoction was released to celebrate National Ice Cream Month, which was designated in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan. In the proclamation, Reagan wrote, “Ice cream is a nutritious and wholesome food, enjoyed by over ninety percent of the people in the United States. It enjoys a reputation as the perfect dessert and snack food.” According to the International Dairy Foods Association, vanilla still tops the list as America’s favorite flavor.

Will you be trying the new flavor for National Ice Cream Day this Sunday?
