Move over, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. There’s a new “sexiest man alive” in town. Country star Blake Shelton has been named 2017’s “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine—and the internet has a lot of feelings about this year’s unexpected outcome.

According to People magazine, “The Voice” coach credits his girlfriend Gwen Stefani for convincing him to embrace the honor. She reacted to the news on Twitter, writing, “I guess I’ve been kissing the #sexiestmanalive all this time but @people I knew that allready!!” As for Shelton, he revealed in his cover story that he’ll be embracing his new title in everyday life. “When [people] would say to Adam [Levine], ‘Mr. Sexy,’ you’d always see him go, ‘Well, awwww…’ If you say that to me, it’s going to be, ‘You’re damn right, I’m Mr. Sexy! I’ve been ugly my whole life, if I can be sexy for a year, I’m taking it. I’m taking it.”

Previous title holders “The Rock,” David Beckham, Chris Hemsworth, Adam Levine, Channing Tatum, Johnny Depp, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The magazine has been selecting the “Sexiest Man Alive” every year since 1985, which is the year Mel Gibson graced the cover. Rolling Stone reports that Shelton is the first country star to receive the honor.

While some people applauded this year’s choice and shared their total “man crush,” many weren’t convinced that Shelton is truly the “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2017. “I don’t want to live in a world where Blake Shelton is the Sexiest Man Alive,” one Twitter user wrote. ” Others demanded a recount or suggested “sexier” men.
