And we’re back for week 2 of The Bachelorette and Andi Dorfman’s attempt to find true love. There will be 2 one-on-ones this week and one group date. I’m really excited for the one-on-ones because it gives us a chance to get to know these boys much better. I was a bit perturbed to see that Eric Hill was given the first one-on-one, because more time with him on screen makes me feel uncomfortable due to his recent passing. I think the best way to look at this unusual situation is just to view him as a contestant and not think about the tragic events that have occurred since filming. Twitter fans obviously agree that it’s not the best way to start of the season, but actually quite heart wrenching.
It’s sad watching Eric on his first date with Andi, only knowing that he’s no longer with us #TheBachelorette #RIP

Andi takes Eric on this adorable beach trip. Eric says that he likes her a lot and his “faces hurts from smiling so much.” They fly kites, make sand angels, and are taking pictures, but Andi says, “This is not all she has planned.” I was expecting something more exciting but shocker, she’s already pulled out the helicopter ride. For anyone who’s been a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan the helicopter rides are a constantly over-used card and is not exactly what you’d call surprising anymore. But to try and add a fun twist, Andi takes him to a snow covered mountain. They literally went from one season to the next and are having an instructor teach them how to snowboard. Eric says helping her snowboard is his, “Excuse to be next to her,” and they’re clicking so well it’s getting unbearably cute and sad. She is very impressed by his athletic abilities and is quite attracted to him as they share hot cocoa on the snow-covered hill.
Later Eric charms her with breathtaking stories of his spectacular adventures and family. He talks about how he’s so eager to get all of his adventures out of the way so that he can start a family and so he won’t be urged to do these dangerous things later. It’s hard to watch and difficult to not love him. As awful as it is to watch, their chemistry is sweet and it’s nice to know what a sweet soul he was. He receives the rose and they spend the rest of the date making s’mores and giggling. At the very least he’s a promising start to the season and we as an audience just need to do our best to separate the reality from this show so we can enjoy this wonderfully sweet boy while we can.
