Avicii has died at the age of 28. On Friday, the Swedish DJ and music producer, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was found dead in Oman, his publicist confirmed.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,” his publicist Diana Baron said in a statement, according to Billboard. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”

The “Wake Me Up” artist and electronic dance music superstar retired from live touring in 2016, according to Variety. Bergling had suffered from numerous health problems, including acute pancreatitis. At the time he announced his retirement, he told the Hollywood Reporter he was “happier, more stress-free than I’ve been in a long time.” Last year, he released a new EP titled “Avīci.”
