No need to take chances roaming around random neighborhoods to score the best Halloween loot this year; increase the odds of success by sticking to the best locations. The seventh annual Trick-or-Treat Index, compiled by Zillow, details the top 20 cities to find the most candy in the shortest time period with few safety concerns.

Parents and kids alike benefit from vetted trick-or-treating locations since no one is interested in walking all night in chilly fall weather to return home with a light bag. This year, the improved methodology provides greater trick-or-treating success by factoring home values, the population of residents ages 15 or younger and the proximity of homes to each other.

No surprise, San Francisco tops the list like last year and for the fifth consecutive year. A few new cities debuting this year are Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville and Jacksonville.

In each of the leading cities, results indicate five specific neighborhoods where trick-or-treaters should be the most successful. Here are the top trick-or-treating locations for 2015. For more neighborhood breakdowns, review the full results.
