The Fappening has helped deliver, and place child pornography on the computers of at least 130,000 Reddit users over the last 4 days. When the leaked photos first began appearing, they included actresses who were over the age of 18. The leaks started with Vanessa Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez, Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco and other older celebrities.

However, by Tuesday afternoon pictures of gymnast McKayla Maroney and MTV actress Liz Lee also appeared on the social networks subreddit /R/TheFappening. While both of those women are now over the age of 18, the photos that were revealed were taken before they turned legal age.

Maroney’s attorney’s quickly sent a takedown notice to Porn.com, and various other websites that were hosting the recently released photos.

The photos of Lee were taken by her boyfriend when she was only 16-years-old.

The #CelebGate hashtag has helped spread the images on Twitter, Reddit, 4Chan, and various other social networks, but The Fappening subreddit has been by far the largest real-time provider of the photos.

While Reddit is a bastion for nearly 100 percent free speech, the platform does not allow child pornography to be distributed, and therefore the following message was eventually posted at R/TheFappening:

Redditors were quick to panic, asking about jail time and other legal consequences that could occur because of their actions. Users asked questions such as: “Am I going to go to jail?” and even the disturbing, “is it safe just to have them on your computer though?” Inevitably users also asked if it was okay to have the leaked photos on their computer of legal aged female celebrities.

While some Reddit users freaked out, others maintained their Redditor mentality and continued to post illegal photos, and even make fun of people who were legitimately freaked out by the takedown notice.

The real takeaway here though is that 130,000+ Reddit users purposefully or accidentally viewed child pornography this week courtesy of the leaked McKayla Maroney and Liz Lee photos.
