Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Flipboard 0 There is an element of social media that affects SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Nobody knows to what degree social media can affect your SEO. Even the engineers are not sure because they are not able to measure the effect of every single update that takes place every year (there are between 30 and 60 per year that are published). Here are some social media and content strategy tips that will help you improve your SEO. Adding keywords to your social media posts When you create your social media campaign, you should already know what themes you are going to cover. With that being the case, you can judge what theme to add next into your social media posts and also judges what keywords should be there. If you are writing about a theme, then there is a good chance that the keywords will already appear naturally in your text. If they do not then you are okay to shoehorn a few in, but remember that the effectiveness of your social media posts comes from their impact on the network and not their search engine friendliness. At the most, the keywords in the text help the search engines decide what the attached social media link are all about. A longer post may help you The size of the post depends on the social media network you are using. For example, a longer post on YouTube or Twitter is going to be a terrible idea, but longer posts on Facebook and Google+ are great ideas. Do not do it too often or people will avoid your overly long posts thorough becoming bored of them. But, do create longer posts now and again when the time is right. If your social media profile is more like a resource rather than a place to see pictures, then you may gain more long-term traffic that way, and Google will see that you are not using cheap tricks to get attention, such as stealing other peoples’ images. When you link from social media make sure there is an explanation for it In other words, stop linking for the sake of adding a link. You are supposed to add a link from social media posts because it tells the search engines what the post is all about, but if you link without giving an explanation then how is the search engine going to interpret it. If you link from your picture to your website then from your Twitter tweet to your website then it does offer a social media mention, which is not bad, but how will it connect what is said in the tweet with the image? You can add links from your social media posts, just be sure that the link has some sort of connection with the website you are linking to. Post subject matter that appeals to your target audience There are people on Facebook with social media campaigns that consist of reams of funny pictures and such. They get a lot of traffic but their conversion numbers are very low and from some reason they are not enjoying much SEO benefit. If you haven’t guessed why, it is because traffic is and “likes” will not affect your SEO or how eager people are to visit your website. What matters is that people that are interested in your website pay a visit. They are the ones that Google knows have visited similar sites and that have a social media history of trying sites like yours. It says to the search engines that your website has something in common with your competitors, which is actually better for your SEO because it helps Google understand your website and the concept or theme behind it. If you attract people that are actually interested in your website, such as your target audience, then they are far more likely to visit your website coming from social media rather than reams of traffic that merely enjoys your posts. The fact they enjoy your posts is good, but it is not enough to pull people from social media and onto your website. Try to mix up your content on social media On social media networks such as Facebook and Google+, you are able to add audio, video, Infographic and text media into your posts. When you are given the chance to do this, you should really take advantage of it. You do not have to do it much. For example, if you have very little viable video media then you do not have to create some, but if you do have some then you should add it. This will help your SEO, though it is uncertain by how much, though it will certainly help to engage your viewers more. You may have a bigger impact if you give people a choice as to the type of media they use. Some people may hit your social media profile and not want to read your post, but they may like to listen to your audio/pod casts. If the media is there, then there is a higher chance you will retain readers/viewers.
