Three Tips to increase your Google SEO
In a word where not only every company, but also many individuals, have their own web presence, it is difficult to stand out. As the world’s most famous search engine, Google has set the standards for SEO. Knowing and taking advantage of these guidelines can drastically increase your chances of being seen by the average consumer. Here are three simple tips to get you started.
1. 600 words- Matt Cutts, head of Google’s web spam team recently gave this advice. Each article on your web site should include a minimum of 600 words. Anything less than this creates an impression that your content is not well-researched or doesn’t include enough detail to be of high-quality to web browsers. Keeping that magic 600-word number in mind as your produce content will help you rise in the search rankings.
2. Google’s in-depth article section- A new feature to Google, the “in-depth” article section was expanded in December. The feature currently seems to favor big name companies with trusted reputations, but there are things that anyone can do to help increase their chances of appearing in this often-clicked sidebar. Begin by making your content worth reading. Longer articles (2,000+ words) have a better chance of appearing in this section. It’s also important to follow Google’s specific guidelines for format and markup language. Lastly, if content on your site is restricted, Google cannot crawl it and make it available in search results. If you charge for articles or use passwords, make sure to take advantage of workarounds so that Google can still find your content.
3. Google+ – While social media is becoming an evermore popular marketing tool, many organizations aren’t yet taking advantage of Google+. Even something as simple as integrating the Google+ share tools into your website or blog can help to increase your SEO ranking. And, as you increase your Google+ circles by adding members of your personal network and fans of your company, you’ll get more eyes on your content simply by hitting an extra “share” button.
SEO is a constantly shifting and changing business. Following these three easy steps is one way to help boost it, but there are countless other features you may not be taking advantage of. If you’re interested in an in-depth SEO strategy, visit our site.
