Social media darling and referral traffic powerhouse Pinterest today announced a new terms of service agreement and updated features for businesses. While many businesses were already utilizing Pinterest, marketers now have the ability to transfer their corporate profiles to a business account and access the new features.
How To Transfer A Corporate Account to a New Business Page
If your business or organization already has a Pinterest account, making the switch is simple and easy.
- Log into your account and visit the Pinterest business page at http://business.pinterest.com
- Select “Convert your existing account”
- Fill out your profile info
- Select “Convert Account”
Most of the information on the Convert to Business Account page should have been filled out. The notable new additions are Business Type and Contact Name:
That’s it! You’re now operating a Pinterest business page. You’ll notice a new set of buttons at the bottom of your profile page:
Website Verification
One more step is required: Website Verification. Select “Verify Website’ to get started.
Here, you’ll need to download an HTML file and upload it to the root folder on your FTP. Once you’ve done so, select “Click here to complete the process.”
Once you’ve done that, a checkmark will appear next to the URL on your profile page:
New Features
The other three buttons at the bottom of your profile will equip you with ways of promoting your Pinterest page and easily pin images to your boards, so definitely make use of them where appropriate.
It’s unclear what the other “New Features” of a Pinterest Business Page are – it’s likely more features will be rolled out in the future. For now, don’t wait to convert your existing account.
