When did you start using Pinterest and what inspired you to make an account?
I started using Pinterest in February of 2011. I’m a very visual person and Pinterest seemed like a great tool for someone like me, who is a digital pack rat and saves everything on her computer!
Why do you like Pinterest?
When I first discovered Pinterest, I fell in love instantly. I saw it as a way to visually sort everything I had ever bookmarked; all my random recipes, pictures of puppies, outfit inspirations, and wish lists. I was hooked right away. I have a board called wedding ideas where I pin wedding tidbits to help inspire my own upcoming wedding. I’m trying to not get carried away on that board because I don’t want to flood my feed and become a “bridezilla.”
You have gained over 528K followers! That’s impressivel! What makes your Pinterest unique?
I think what makes my Pinterest account unique is that I don’t take it too seriously. I pin images of things I’d love to buy and things I want to do, but I also pin images that just make me smile and serve no other purpose than to indulge in eye candy or cuteness.
What do you like about living in Toronto?
I moved to Toronto in 2007 and since then it’s stolen my heart! Toronto is amazing if you love food, art, fashion and music. This city is full of events and concerts happening all the time, which makes it the best city to fall in love with, and in. Date nights are never boring here! The downtown core of Toronto is pretty easy to navigate by subway, walking or biking, which is why I sometimes call it ‘my two block radius.’ You can go shopping, hit up the museum or art gallery, then eat at an amazing restaurant and people watch the fashionistas on Queen Street, all within a few streets of each other.

What are your favorite Pinterest boards to pin onto and why?
It’s hard for me to choose a favourite board. I love each one for different reasons, but I’d say My Fashion Inspo is my favorite. It’s like having my dream wardrobe, except it would never all fit in my closet! My second favorite board is Marilyn, a board dedicated to pins of Marilyn Monroe. I love her, she is one of my favourite celebrities and it’s through Pinterest that I’ve found many rarely seen photographs of her.
Tell us about your favorite places you’ve traveled to!
Mexico city is one of my favourite places I’ve ever visited back in 2011. It was a culture shock for sure, but in a good way. There is so much history and culture there, I learned something new every day. My favourite spot to visit was Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera’s house that had rooms full of her paintings which I have never seen anywhere else. The whole house had a magical quality. It was like being able to walk around inside of a moment stuck in time. I also really loved Miami because it was so indulgent with its beautiful beaches, people and weather… not to mention the great art scene and nightlife! There was never a dull moment.

Your things that make me smile board is really beautiful and fun! We also love your wanderlust board. Tell us more about these boards and why you made them!
I haven’t travelled as much as I’d like to, so my ‘wanderlust’ board is a collection of beautiful places I would LOVE to visit and am itching to explore. My ‘things that make me smile’ board is where I post things that I think are pretty or unusual, and obviously, make me smile. It’s great to browse for inspiration when I need a little jolt of creativity.
What is your Pinterest aesthetic?
I think my Pinterest aesthetic simply reflects me, especially on fashion pages – it’s feminine, minimalist, and playful.
Tell us more about your passion for blogging, fashion, pinning, and men’s style. Tell us more about your lifestyle blog!
I’ve always loved reading other people’s blogs and dreamt of starting my own. Last year, I finally took the plunge and started melaniexeinalem.com – a lifestyle blog documenting my life in Toronto, and my favourite things on Pinterest and in real life. One of my most popular posts is about the Undercut – the 1920′s gangster slash gentleman scholar haircut that I just can’t get enough of. I was inspired to write that post from my gentleman’s quarters board on Pinterest. I love a well-put-together man!
What are your plans and hopes for the future?
It’s funny, Pinterest has become such an integral part of my life. I hope to use it next to plan out trips and cross places off of my travel bucket list… so here’s to many more years with Pinterest!
