Molly Pickering was born and raised in San Antonio, TX which she’s proud to still call home today! Not only does she love cinema… a lot, she claims to be able to quote films for hours on end with her family. When Molly’s not watching films with loved ones, she can be found on Pinterest sharing her favorite things to over 7.8M followers!
When did you start using Pinterest and what drew you to making an account?
I started using Pinterest back in September of 2011 after my friend sent me an invite before I had even heard of it. Once I got started I couldn’t believe that a website like Pinterest hadn’t existed before! I was so thrilled to finally be able to organize, save and share images of amazing things that interest and inspire me.
You have gained over 7.8 million followers… that’s so amazing! What makes your Pinterest unique?
That number is still very surreal to me! I am beyond flattered that so many people enjoy what I pin. I definitely have an aesthetic and I always try to stay true to that. I also only have 13 boards so my pins are concentrated on the areas that I am truly interested in. Very rarely do I find a pin that doesn’t fit into one of my 13 boards. My fashion board, fashion your seat belts is so much fun to pin on! On Pinterest fashion reigns supreme. I’m constantly finding amazing looks I must have and order online on the spot.
What are your favorite boards to pin onto and why?
I am a cinephile at heart, so my favorite board would have to be good cinema. I could watch, discuss, and critique movies until I’m blue in the face. My angels on earth board is a close second favorite because puppies and other teeny animals rule all things. I actually just adopted a greyhound puppy named Luca! I have already accepted that he’s now running the show.
We noticed that you like to pin videos onto your Good Cinema board. Do you think Pinterest videos will catch on?
I occasionally pin videos. When I’m really excited about an upcoming movie I’ll post the movie trailer. I’m not sure if Pinterest videos will catch on but if I could choose the thumbnail that the video shows on Pinterest, I would feel much more inclined to do so. A lot of people just pin things because they’re nice to look at, so the video’s thumbnail has to look appealing.
What got you so interested in cinema? Did a particular film spark your interest?
My family got me interested for sure. I have a twin brother and we grew up watching movies a lot. My friends and I also made a habit of going to see movies as often as we could. The first time I saw Shawshank Redemption was pretty memorable for me.
Then when I got older, I was really moved by The Godfather and all of Quentin Tarantino’s films. My favorite movie of all time is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I enjoy every genre but sci-fi is one of my absolute favorites. I love the original Star Wars movies and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I probably own over 250 movies and I quote them a lot. I quoted Mean Girls like four times yesterday.
We saw that you fairly recently took a trip to Spain and Italy. That sounds wonderful! Tell us more about those trips.
I visited Spain during my last semester of college. My friend and I spent five weeks in a small town called Valladolid and it was such an amazing experience. In March I was fortunate enough to go to Italy with 13 family members of mine. We all have Italian in our heritage so it was an amazing experience being able to bring my grandma to see the new Pope at the Vatican. We were able to visit Rome and Florence and stayed in a villa that looked like it was out of a 007 movie. Florence is gorgeous. It’s probably the most beautiful city I’ve ever seen. The Duomo at night was amazing.

Those trips sound amazing! What are your plans for the future?
I’ve never been one to plan things too far in advance but I know I want to travel as much as possible. I can’t wait to see Europe again. In November I’m doing a Europe trip with my boyfriend! I really want to see Barcelona and I’d absolutely love to go to Paris. I have romanticized that city to no end. I really want to sit in a Parisian cafe for like 12 hours. That would be just perfect.
