Many people do not realize that each page in your site has a unique Google PageRank is (even if it’s N/A) and is evaluated on it’s own merit.
Google PageRank is a scoring method that Google uses to evaluate webpages. If you’re not familiar with it, click here to learn more about Google PageRank.
Many of us talk about our PageRank in terms of the rank of our home page which is often the first page in a site to have ANY rank!
However, since each page in a site has a unique rank, it’s important check them all!
Unfortunately, even a small blog actually has hundreds of posts and pages due to all of the category, tag, archive etc variety pages.
This can be a daunting task!
Unfortunately, many of the tools that claim to let you import a .xml file just don’t work and I even had one that reported false data! Yikes!
Fortunately, if you’re a Windows user, you’re in luck because I have a solution!
Easily Check All Of Your Websites Pages & Posts PageRank At Once… With PaRaMeter!
Since Google recently updated the toolbar PageRank, it was a good time to drag out my trusty PaRaMeter to have a look at what my site was doing.
1. Download and install PaRaMeter just like any other Windows application. (Yes it’s old and yes it runs just fine on my Win 7 64-bit system).
2. Go to your start menu and programs and open Parameter.
3. In the Tools Menu, select “Extract URLs”
4. Type in your domain name and set the Depth. I like to use 3. You may find 3 works okay but 3 returns way too many results for my big site. 2 adaquately finds my most important pages. Click the green “start” button.
5. PaRaMeter will make a big list of all the URLs it sees. This may take a bit. Once it finishes, click the “Save” Disk Icon. (No save dialog will pop up)
6. Close the Extract URLs window which will return you to the main Parameter window.
7. Click the green “Start” button to begin a look up of all the URLs we just saved into temporary memory. This may take a bit.
8. Once the checks are completed… go into the menu, under Project and select “Export to CSV” and save the data with today’s date for your records.
That’s it! It’s really that simple to check all of the posts and pages in your site for their current Google PageRank at one time!
There are certainly some lessons to be learned from my output results but we’ll save that for another post ;)
