The Sandbox, a decentralized gaming metaverse and a subsidiary of video gaming giant Animoca Brands, has inked a new metaverse partnership deal with Saudi Arabia Digital Government Authority (DGA).
In a February 07 blog post, Sebastien Borget, the chief operations officer and co-founder of The Sandbox, confirmed that The Sandbox has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DGA.

Saudi Arabia Taps The Sandbox For Metaverse Initiative
The decentralized gaming metaverse signed that new partnership deal with Saudi Arabia Digital Government Authority during an annual LEAP Tech Event at Front Expo Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The LEAP is a three-day annual tech convention that brought together more than 20 speakers from various tech firms and 100,000 attendees. The event is organized by Informa Tech, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and the Saudi Federation For Cybersecurity.
Under the new integration, The Sandbox and DGA anticipate exploring, advising, and mutually supporting each other in activations of the metaverse. Borget has vowed to share more information about the partnership in the coming weeks.
More Nations Continue To Adopt The Metaverse
In the few years, the metaverse space has gained mainstream adoption, with many countries embracing the new tech to build their economies. Last year, The Crown Prince of Dubai announced launching the ‘Dubai Metaverse Strategy’ to boost the GDP contribution of the United Arabs Emirate.
In October 2022, the Republic of Norway partnered with Decentraland to launch a tax office in the metaverse. The Norwegian government anticipates leveraging the metaverse functionality to reach its next generation of users.
Earlier this year, the South Korean government announced the launching of a replica of its capital city, “Metaverse Seoul.” The metaverse platform will focus on improving the efficiency of public administration services, including citizenship, tax counseling, and youth mentoring.
