The New York University School of Professional Studies, a subsidiary of New York University, has partnered with the Near Foundation to launch a new learning workshop, which allows students to gain metaverse exposure.
NYU Taps Near Protocol To Offer Metaverse Studies
In a February 6 press release, the New York University School of Professional Studies confirmed partnering with Near Foundation to introduce a new metaverse curriculum. The new course will enable students to learn the technology underlying the metaverse space.
Established in 2018, Near Foundation is a non-profit organization and the parent company behind Near Protocol. Near Protocol is a scalable blockchain providing the user experience necessary to bridge the gap to mainstream adoption of decentralized applications.
Under the new integration, New York University anticipates leveraging the Near Protocol blockchain capabilities to introduce a new syllabus offering metaverse-related studies. While commenting about the new workshop, Angie Kamath, the Dean of NYU SPS, remarked:
“As a leading institution of applied, action-oriented learning and professional education, it is NYU SPS’ responsibility to prepare our students and faculty for success in every industry.”
According to the announcement, the metaverse course has been prepared by NYU SPS Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport. The new studies will feature detailed information on Web3, blockchain technologies, and the sports industry.
The new metaverse course will cover the basics of blockchain and digital assets and their utility in the sports world. According to Kamath, metaverse tech has a “large role to play, not just in the sports industry but in every industry that touches our lives.”
NYU To Launch An NFT Reward Program
New York University has also announced plans to launch a non-fungible token reward program in partnership with the Near Protocol. NYU will offer NFTs to all students pursuing the new metaverse course.
