Yuga Labs, the parent company of the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs, has announced the appointment of Daniel Alegre as the new Chief Executive Officer. Alegre will succeed the current CEO, Nicole Muniz.

In a December 19 press release, Yuga Labs confirmed the appointment of Daniel Alegre as the new CEO, effective next year. Alegre will take over from Madam Nicole Muniz, who will continue serving as a strategic advisor to the company.

Daniel Alegre Short Bio

Daniel Alegre is the former President and Chief Operating Officer of Activision Blizzard. Alegre has been in charge of international franchises, including Call of Duty®, World of Warcraft®, Diablo®, Overwatch®, and Candy Crush™ since early 2020.

Moreover, Alegre has also spent more than 16 years at the internet search engine Google. During his time, Alegre served as President of Global and Strategic Partnerships, President of Shopping, and President of Asia Pacific and Latin America.

In the new post, Alegre will work closely with Yuga Labs founders Wylie Aronow and Greg Solano to continue growing the business. While commenting about the Alegre appointment, Aronow remarked:

“We are thrilled to have him join the team to help with our vision of a truly interoperable metaverse. Daniel has held one of the highest-level roles at one of the largest gaming companies in the world. He brings valuable experience across entertainment, e-commerce, and global strategic partnerships.”

Yuga Labs’ NFTs Market Health

Yuga Labs is home to popular NFT collections such as Mutant Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, Meebits, Kennel Ape Yacht Club, 10KTF, Otherdeed for Otherside metaverse, and Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.

In the past several months, many NFTs, including Yuga Labs’ NFTs, have suffered the recent bear market, which has left many digital collectibles shedding more than 60% in value. The NFT market suffered another 30% loss over the recent FTX impulsion.

In a relatively short analysis, the Yuga Labs’ flagship NFT collection Bored Apes Yacht Club, has fallen by more than 75% from its record high earlier in the year. According to CoinGecko, the cheapest Bored Ape NFT goes for 62.7 ETH, down from around 152 ETH in April.

Nonetheless, Yuga Labs anticipates that Daniel Alegre will continue pushing the company’s ambitious vision for blockchain gaming, metaverse development, and community-building to restore the glory of Bored Ape NFTs.
