The crypto space continues attracting celebrities, brands, and public figures despite the crypto market suffering another market crash this week. Iconic basketball player Scottie Pippen is the latest celebrity to join the crypto, customizing his image as NFTs.
Mr. Pippen Turns His Image Into NFTs
Over the weekend, Olympic gold medalist and United States basketball legend Scottie Pippen confirmed immortalizing his image as a non-fungible token on the Ethereum layer two scaling solution, Artbitrum.
The Iconic basketball former player, who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, has teamed with Smolverse to immortalize his image into playable NFTs on the Arbitrum network.
Smolverse is a community-driven virtual fun and playful world of progressively-evolving NFTs on Ethereum layer two scaling solution Arbitrum. It’s a fantasy action rogue-lite role-playing game (RPG) combining MMO-like social gameplay and NFTs.
Other NBA Stars In The Crypto Industry
The crypto space has already attracted several champions from the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the past few months, triple champion and double MVP Stephen Curry immortalized his three-pointer record with an NFT drop on Polygon.
Kevin Durant, the professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets and his Venture Capital firm Thirty-Five Ventures LLC, Durant filed as many as 26 trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on May 19.
According to data submitted, the basketball star planned to launch an NFT marketplace for digital assets and NFT-backed media. Kevin Durant also planned to launch a crypto exchange and online retail stores.
Other sports celebrities, who have joined the crypto industry, include Klay Thompson, a five-time NBA All-star and two-time All-NBA Third Team honoree, who opted to get, compensated his dues in digital assets.
In the meantime, Scottie Pippen seems to be following the footprint of Mario Götze, “The German Messi,” and the Legend of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, PSV Eindhoven, and Eintracht Frankfurt, who also changed his profile picture on Twitter into NFTs the Smolverse.
