The Italian professional soccer club, AC Milan, has successfully partnered with Solana-based esports franchise MonkeyLeague to launch non-fungible token (NFT)-backed play to earn the game.
In a September 23 press release, the Italian soccer club confirmed its successful partnership with MonkeyLeague to launch a new fantasy football game. MonkeyLeague is a strategy-based web3 fantasy football game built on the Solana blockchain.

Ac Milan Dives Deeper Into NFT Industry
Under the new partnership, AC Milan anticipates creating exclusive, Rossoneri-branded NFT game assets, wearables, special game tournaments, co-marketing events, and a host of other exciting initiatives, such as allowing club players to playtest the game.
The Italian Champions will also work closely with MomkeyLeague to launch new collections of tokenized branded AC Milan NFT game assets, including new MonkeyPlayers, skin, and Stadiums.
In addition, the fantasy football gaming platform will launch its initial MonkeyPlayer NFT breeding season, where AC Milan branded digital assets can randomly mint through the breeding process. There will be additional NFTs, such as digital stadiums and land.
The Italian Soccer club aims to offer its fans a more thrilling digital experience. While commenting about the recent partnership, Casper Stylsvig, the chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan, remarked:
“We are excited to start this partnership with MonkeyLeague, which helps us enhance our presence in digital innovation. We are especially proud to be the first football club to team up with MonkeyLeague, bringing this game to our fans worldwide and providing them with a new and creative way to connect with their favorite team.”
AC Milan’s Previous NFT Partnerships
It’s not the first time for AC Milan to issue an NFT collection. In January last year, the Italian soccer champions launched an NFT campaign and unleashed its fan token on fan engagement and reward app, Socios.com.
One month later, AC Milan partnered with cryptocurrency trading platform, Binance and listed its fan tokens. Earlier this year, the club inked a new partnership with Onefootball to issue official video highlights moments.
At the time, Onefootball and AC Milan launched an NFT-based fantasy football game, which allowed crypto enthusiasts and football fans to collect, trade, and play with AC Milan branded digital cards.
The partnership with MonkeyLeague will bring together the game’s best players worldwide to play in hotly-contested matches, with the winners taking home exclusive rewards. According to AC Milan, the highly anticipated game will officially launch next month.
Elsewhere, Tamadoge is another NFT and metaverse-related play-to-earn game slated to launch next month. Tamadoge, a dog meme-themed virtual pet game, will soon list its native token, TAMA, on popular crypto exchanges.
