In my day, college students had to wait in three hour lines to buy $1,000 worth of textbooks every semester. And then, just a semester later, they’d wait in another three hour line to sell back those same textbooks for a measly $50. Ahhh, the good old days.

These days, college students have it easy thanks to the Amazon Student App that allows you to not only check textbook prices to ensure you find the lowest rate, but easily buy and trade your books in, too. That’s pretty awesome, right?

That’s not all – to help out cashed-strapped college students, Amazon even offers free 2-day shipping to users of their mobile app.

Students who use the app can also trade in other eligible items such as video games, DVDs, and electronics for up to 70 percent back. Mobile Commerce Daily explains, “Students can scan the items they no longer need, ship eligible items, and receive an Amazon.com Gift Card, which can be used toward other eligible items. The application also uses social features and lets students share products via email, Facebook, SMS, and Twitter.”

Users of Amazon’s mobile app might even be rewarded – From now until Dec. 15, consumers can use the Amazon Student App to enter for a chance to win a $1,000 Amazon.com gift card in the Trade In to Win Sweepstakes.

The Amazon Student App is available for Android and Apple devices.
