One of our iHospital blog readers recently asked us about iPhone button replacement.  Since this is a question we get asked on a daily basis we decided to turn our answer into a blog post! Don’t forget you can email us anytime if you have a question relating to any iPod, Mac, iPhone or iPad repair.

Dear iHospital,

I recently jammed my iPhone’s home button and was wondering what my options are for repairing or replacing it.  Is this something I can do myself?  There are all kinds of articles and how-to videos on the Internets but I’m wary of doing it myself.  Can you help me?

There are a number of options when it comes to iPhone button replacement including: doing it yourself, using AppleCare+ or visiting iHospital to have one of our D.i.D. (Doctor of iDevices) fix it for you.

Doing it Yourself

Replacing your home button is a multi-step process and we don’t recommend you try it at home.  Taking apart your iPhone requires specialized tools you probably don’t have laying around at home, and aren’t worth buying (unless you plan on breaking your iPhone again!).  Unless you are a skilled technician, we highly recommend you don’t try repairing any iPhone buttons yourself. Think twice before you disassemble your iPhone! On the other hand, if you’ve successfully done this yourself, let us know in the comments below – we want to hear about it!

The second option is available if you purchased AppleCare+ ($99.00) when you bought your iPhone.  iPhone button replacement is a fairly common repair so they will most likely send it off for repair.  You will have to do without your iPhone for 2 – 3 days and it will also count as 1 of your 2 repairs towards your two claim limit.

No appointment is needed at iHospital so drop into one of our convenient locations and have one of our D.i.D. technicians take a look.  We are the experts when it comes to iPhone button replacement, and you know what’s even better? We’ll fix it while you wait and we only use top quality OEM parts!  Don’t forget, all of our repairs are backed with a full one-year guarantee.  Check out this article about Apple Care vs iHospital Repairs to see how we stack up against the big guys.
