Don’t you feel like everyone is forced nowadays into using Facebook or Twitter? While both these services are great, sometimes you may feel you want a more personalized sharing experience of all the things that really matter to you – and no, I’m not talking here about uploading a picture of your breakfast or lunch – but actually sharing something of real value! Don’t you feel the need for a place that allows you to compile and post your personal greatest hits of favorite locations, pictures, music, and experiences – all in one place?

Look no further, the answer is here and it’s called Compass.to: a mobile app that allows you to create a playlist of your daily experiences and share it with your loved ones and like-minded people, so that you make them see the world through your own eyes.

The app is currently in beta and we were lucky enough to be able to test it. Here’s a short rundown:

Compass was launched in late 2012 and is headquartered in two of the greatest cities in the world, New York and Berlin. If you look at their website you will see that their main goal is to “help you preserve your daily experiences and digital content and stitch them together in a way that creates meaning for you, your loved ones and this planet!”

If you like getting inspired by your surroundings and people near you, then this app is a great addition to your social life! Perhaps the best reason for using Compass.to is to make new great friends, however it also gives you the opportunity to gather inspiration from those around you on new music, great designs and much more.

From the moment you open Compass.to you can feel that it was created with the user in mind. Everything is right at your fingertips – feel like meeting someone new? Simply look through the list of people you might feel inspired by. Are you wondering what great locations your area has? Then simply look through a list of compasses in your area.

The more time you spend using it, the more the app will learn about your likes and preferences, and with time it will recommend new and interesting people to get in touch with, people who share similar likes to you, people who can become your close friends, like some sort of prismatic for your everyday life.

So how exactly does Compass work?

Well, let’s say you are walking to work when you see an outstanding design that you just want to share with the world. It really couldn’t be any easier – all you have to do is press the compass button at the bottom of the screen. When you click it, the “create Compass” screen appears and from there all you have to do is select the location for your compass, take a picture and give your Compass a name. The great thing is that the active radius will show you what other exciting Compasses there are in the same area.

Let’s say you found heaven on earth and you really want to share that spot with the world, well, then the “add spot” feature allows you doing that – all you need to do is search for that spot on Compass and then add some information for others. This can be things like a picture of that spot, where exactly one can find it, or how eco-friendly it is.

Compass is not only an ego-centered app. It’s about knowing what your friends are up to, the spots they enjoy, the music they like, and basically every other thing that is meaningful to them.

If you have been on the hunt for an easy way to connect with all the things you love, right where you are, then Compass is a must have! After having spent some time using it, there is no doubt that this app has become part of my life. It is simple to use and connecting with others is done in a more-than intuitive way. So next time someone asks whether you’re on Facebook or Twitter, ask them back if they’re on Compass!

Btw, if you want to try Compass for yourself all you need to do is follow them on Twitter and you will automatically get a beta invitation.
