Ask any business owner and their dream come true would be to have more leads than they know what to do with. In an ideal world, this would be a perfect scenario but in reality, leads don’t appear out of thin air –they require work, lots of it but knowing where and how to invest your time and resources, can make a huge difference in the success of your business.

Let me quickly share 3 tips, that can help your business instantly. This will change your life, well maybe not your life but it will give you a new perspective on your business, especially if you’re a small but mighty company, ready to take the jump into the big leagues.

1)      Know who you want to attract –The biggest challenge businesses have is that they want to go after everyone. By thinking that they can attract everyone, in essence the business ends up missing out on a target audience that’s ideal for their business because they didn’t spend enough time nurturing those prospects into leads. When you think about your lead gen strategy, don’t focus on quantity –instead invest your time on quality. Marketing to 10 prospects and converting 1 of those prospects into a customer is a lot better than targeting 100 prospects with zero conversions. Plus knowing who you want to attract, will help you define your marketing, advertising and communication strategy.

2)       Nurture relationships –Turn your past customers, old business contacts, friends and social media connections into your brand advocates. Now, I am not recommending that you constantly advertise your business but be strategic in your approach and identify opportunities of when it’s appropriate to promote the latest and the greatest in your business and ask if there’s anyone they know that can benefit from your products and services. You’d be surprised, as to how many people will make connection points and promote you and your brand, if you have a good relationship with that individual. Best part, is that this word of mouth advertising doesn’t cost you a single penny, yet it can do wonders for your business.

3)      Build partnerships -2 companies are better than 1, 3 are better than 2 and the list goes on. The point is that if it makes sense to partner with local businesses, be a part of tradeshows, do blog promotion (ahem!) or leverage a local event by being a sponsor, go for it. It is far easier and more cost effective to pool together efforts than trying to do something on your own, plus your business will benefit from the advertising that someone else is doing.
