What is one way you encourage Amazon users to purchase your product despite having few to no online reviews?
1. Include Testimonials Within Your Product Description
The easiest way to increase sales on Amazon without having numerous official reviews is to include written testimonials in your product description. In the beginning of your product description, include three to five testimonials from those who have used and loved your product. This will give you the social proof you need to convince people your product is amazing without having the official Amazon reviews. – Joshua Dorkin, BiggerPockets
2. Go Above and Beyond with Images and Video
You’ll find that most of your competitors are a little “lazy” when it comes to modeling their product. Kick it up a level and take some ultra professional images of your product (make sure you have product images from all angles so that the visitor can see it all). For best results, include a short video as well — fewer than five percent of vendors do this, so you’ll really stand out! – Alex Miller, PosiRank LLC
3. Build Trust Within the Listing
Include as many trust factors as possible within your listings. Have you been in business for 20+ years? That would be a huge selling point. Is your business accredited by the Better Business Bureau? Have you won any awards or been featured by any prominent media outlets? Little blurbs that include this information can help build trust, even without an overflowing amount of reviews. – Jonathan Long, Market Domination Media
4. Make It Available on Prime
Like many of the millions of Amazon Prime users, I never order anything on Amazon that isn’t available through Prime. I’m spoiled by my free two-day (and sometimes same day) shipping. I will always order a Prime product with few reviews over a comparable non-Prime product with hundreds or thousands ofgood reviews. – Brittany Hodak, ZinePak
5. Send Out Product Samples to Get Reviews
It’s easy to get reviews if you send out sample products to online bloggers. Request them to leave an honest and unbiased review on your Amazon product page. The sweet spot is around 13+ reviews and a 4.5-star rating. Get reviews on your product page; it’s almost a sure bet you’ll fail if you don’t have them. Search your industry keyword and “blogs” on Google to find the right bloggers. – Andy Karuza, brandbuddee
6. Try Amz Review Trader
A friend of mine uses Amz Review Trader to offer his products for $1 (a 97 percent discount) in exchange for a review. In one week of sending special Amazon coupons to 50 people, he had 26 reviews from “verified purchasers,” an overall product rating of 4.7 stars. It seems a little shady, but it works and Amazon has clarified that this practice is OK. Definitely worth a try for one of your products. – Brett Farmiloe, Marketing Auditors
7. Be Informative and Humorous
One thing missing from online sales is also the biggest component in selling products to someone who isn’t yet sold on that product — your sales staff. Allow your Amazon listing to emulate this missing component by offering useful information while also injecting character into your product page in the way of humor or wit; this approach is what helped Woot beat out its flash sale competitors. – Blair Thomas, EMerchantBroker
8. Make the Most of Your Product Description
Reviews are one form of social proof, but they aren’t the only way to demonstrate the quality and usefulness of your products on Amazon. Hire a copywriter tocreate engaging, amusing and useful copy. Also invest in video production to showcase the product and include testimonials from current customers in the description. These steps will put you well above most product listings on Amazon. – Vik Patel, Future Hosting
9. Get “Fulfilled By Amazon” to Guarantee Quick Delivery
Not having reviews hurts a bit, but I don’t believe that hurt us much since our own site is loaded with them already. Customer’s can gut check the product on our site, then buy on Amazon if they like. Price and delivery are still the main drivers of a sale, and having an unknown delivery schedule, meaning it’s not FBA, loses a lot of buyers. Convert products to FBA and you will see an increase. – Josh Sprague, Orange Mud
10. Incentivize the Whole Experience
Amazon now offers a gift card program for business owners, targeting audiences within their niche and focusing on the experience rather than just a single one-off product. Email campaigns and bulk codes can be offered using an Amazon API for on-demand integration that focuses on the target audience. You have to give a little first, especially without a branded reputation. – Sheldon Michael, Netjumps International
11. Buy Amazon Sponsored Product Ads
If you have no reviews on Amazon, it is going to be very difficult to drive organic Amazon traffic without paying for it. Therefore, I’d recommend you look at Amazon Sponsored Product Ads, which allow you to drive shoppers to the detail page of your Amazon offers with keyword-targeted ads. The nice thing about Amazon Product Ads is that you only pay when someone clicks your ad. – Obinna Ekezie, Wakanow.com
12. Prove the Product’s Worth With No Strings Attached
There’re many ways to promote your product, even without reviews. If your product is a book, then promote a free download of the first chapter. If your product cannot be downloaded, then create an interactive video that proves the usability of the product. Without the pressures of having to enter a credit card number, the customer can test your product and be encouraged to make the purchase. – David Tomas, Cyberclick
13. Offer Giveaways and Discounts
If you’re selling a book on Amazon Kindle, you can use their free giveaway promotion service to encourage people to download your book for free. You can use a similar strategy with other products; offer it to a select market for free or very cheap to get some reviews. You have to be careful though, as Amazon does not allow payment in exchange for positive reviews. – Shawn Porat, Fortune Cookie Advertising
14. Lower Your Price
If you’ve created a useful and pleasing product out of the highest quality materials. Then tighten up your product listing with great descriptions and beautiful photos. Research Amazon’s search algorithm and see how you can optimize to appear higher in search results. Then price the product slightly lower than your competition to attract interest, and wait for the positive reviews to build up. – Jared Brown, Hubstaff
15. Feature Stunning Product Photography
Invest in world-class photography that makes your products look stunning. Statistics show that 67 percent of customers value the quality of a product’s image over product specific information, description or even reviews. To get the most out of these images, use more than one. Provide customers with alternate views of each item. Products with images are also more likely to be shared on social media. – Andrew Kucheriavy, Intechnic
16. Make Your Own Reviews
Take advantage of the power of video content and make your own product tutorials or video reviews. Videos with some kind of humor of “spoof” aspect to them do very well in the eyes of online and Amazon users, so make your page fun and engaging with your own reviews. By making your own, you are creating conversation and content on your page, and you will also be drawing views to your products. – Miles Jennings, Recruiter.com
