LinkedIn Recommendations. You either love them or you wish they were written differently. Today, we are heavily influenced by the opinions and suggestions of friends, family, social media, as well as online reviews. On LinkedIn, Recommendations serve a strong purpose. They provide us with advice on whether to buy or not to buy, to eat or not to eat, and so on and so on. If you have a positive action out of a positive recommendation, let’s use it to our advantage!
LinkedIn’s Recommendation section allows for others to view you from another’s perspective. You can create a summary that highlights what you have accomplished, your areas of expertise, and of course why we do what we do. But it can still be difficult to capture your personality, what it is like to work with you and your work ethic.
Since we are highly influenced by others’ opinions, a LinkedIn Recommendation highlighting your accomplishments, work ethic and personality may be the overall deciding factor for someone choosing to work with you.
The power is in your hands! Want to re-order your LinkedIn Recommendations? Let’s take a look!
- Hover over your profile picture to the top right of your screen. Click on “View profile.”
2. Scroll down to your Recommendations section. Click on the pencil to the right of your screen next to “Ask to be recommended.”
3. Hover over the recommendation that you want to move. Click on the arrow to the right and drag the Recommendation to where you want it. You can rearrange your Recommendations until you are satisfied with the order.
Remember that recommendations hold a great deal of power. Use them to your advantage! Even give an un-prompted Recommendation. Not only will this make someone’s day, but it may lead to a great Recommendation for you as well!

The challenge is once you go back to your profile they still appear in chronological order, regardless of which position you place at the top. So if you have two current positions the most recent recommendations if checked will appear first. Still not ideal.
Is this just a premium feature? I’m not seeing these arrows for some reason.
Thanks!
Right. It does not work. There is no way to re-order. I have premium and the arrows no longer appear.
It appears that the re-ordering is no longer possible. They have changed the UI in this section and there does not appear to be anyway to move recommendations around. Can you confirm?
Hi, can’t see the arrow right now after editing on recommendations, there is another option or Linkedin doesn’t allow the reordering anymore?
Thanks
