I believe Linkedin is one of the most underutilized platforms for communicating and connecting with other business professionals.
In the past, I have not been a big fan of Linkedin because it can be very time consuming, but hopefully these suggestions will help you realize more of its potential.
1. Ask Questions
Under the More Tab, Answers subheading.
Ask a question about anything. Yes anything… Maybe you want to know which is better an iPhone or Android SmartPhone. Ask a question and see what type of response you get. Your questions are seen by everyone.
2. Post an original update on our home page.
Almost 90% of all updates talk about someone connecting with someone else. Is this information really helpful?
Also, do not feed your tweet over to Linkedin. Reason #1 – People cannot like it and its awkward to respond. Reason #2 – Most people who are on twitter do not check their responses on Linkedin. #3 It’s kind of spammy in my opinion.
3. Update information in your profile once a week.
Put a note about a project you are working on or some type of information you want people to know about you. If you update your profile, an email is sent out to your followers once a week and it will help keep your name on their radar.
4. Post a link to your blog site.
People are hungry for good information, especially information is different than the latest news or latest connections. I also hear from a number of people I meet in person who enjoy the information I post on the blog and they tell me they saw it on Linkedin.
Summary:
Each one of these steps requires action on your part and you will see results because very few professionals spend time sharing valuable information. Try it yourself and start seeing some ROI on
