For any true expert, the first step is learning. This may seem obvious, but it’s surprising how many people don’t know how to learn. based on Benjamin Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives: The Cognitive Domain, 95% of people have the capacity to learn and acquire knowledge in an field of study. All you need to determine is your own personal learning style.
Just like everyone has their own personality, quirks, and interests, we all have our own mode of learning. Whether it’s verbal, visual, or kinesthetic, everyone is able to learn and grow if they have the right resources.
The 10,000 hour rule theory is based on the idea that expertise takes ten thousand hours of focus and practice on whatever the topic may be. This adds us to roughly 20 hours a week for 10 years, but just experience alone doesn’t always equal expertise.
