In the winter, it’s perfectly normal to feel more sluggish and down than in the summer. Wintertime affects the levels of vitamin D and melatonin in our bodies and the extra effort it takes our bodies to keep us warm drains our energy.
In some, however, these symptoms can be more pronounced and severe. Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is a type of depression that hits certain people the same time every year. Usually starting around autumn and well into winter, treatment can range from light therapy to medication.
