Employment in nonfarm private small business payrolls rose 77,000 in February on a seasonally adjusted basis, accounting for 39% of employment gains across all payroll size groups. Within small businesses, 61% of the employment growth contribution was associated with companies having between 1-19 employees.
Due to the important contribution that small businesses make to economic growth, employment data that are specific to businesses with 49 or fewer employees is reported monthly in the ADP Small Business Report®, a subset of the ADP National Employment Report.
