Fashion designer Victoria Beckham has been named number one on the list of the UK’s top business entrepreneurs of the year, according to a poll published by Management Today.
With her fashion empire and over 100 employees, the former Spice Girl turned over a sum of £30 million in 2014, a 2900% rise from just 5 years ago and has an estimated wealth of £210 million. Commenting on her success she has famously said “First time around I felt famous, but now I feel successful.”
The UK’s economy is thriving, and we are seeing more and more young, talented entrepreneurs try their hand at making a name for themselves in the business world. Looking through the top 100, it paints a varied and diverse picture of the British business landscape, with companies of all niches pulling in impressive profits.
It’s also abundantly clear (if it wasn’t already) that the opportunities online are plentiful. 11 of the top 100 business traded solely online, with five online retailers making it onto the list.
So what’s it going to take for a business to make the list next year? A good business plan, work ethic and team are key, but are there any essentials in particular to focus on? I’ll leave the final words of advice to this years number one spot holder Victoria Beckham…
“My business coincides with my passion, what I always wanted to do. I have found an area I can compete in, in my own little way. I’m just starting. I have a long way to go and I know that. I have so much respect for the great designers, people like Miuccia Prada. I’m in awe of what she does. But I don’t think I’m competing with her or with anyone else. My only competition is myself and my collection from the season before.”
