Computer-related employment opportunities are always growing, and it’s estimated that by the year 2020, computer jobs will have grown 22%. That would mean an opening of over 1.4 million jobs all over the world, the strongest demand being for software developers. The job growth for programmers is in itself growing rapidly at two times the United States national average. Yet, even with all this demand, if the current trend continues only 30% of those computer-related jobs will be filled. Less than 2.4% of students graduate with degrees in computer science and its stunting the growth of these jobs.

Coding teaches students not only how to code, but also problem solving, creativity, and communication skills. Learning to code is user friendly for adults and kids alike and there are countless resources online to help, kids especially, get a head start. Schools all over the world are adding basic coding to computer class curriculums to teach kids the basics when they’re young that they can build on for years to come.
