In case you have been living in a bunker and haven’t heard, December 21, 2012, marks the end of the 5,125-year old Mayan calendar. For some people–mostly the kind of people inclined to live in bunkers–this date is auspicious. Clearly the Mayans knew well that bad things happen to good civilizations, what with them being extinct and all, so when their calendar runs out of places to write birthday reminders and save-the-dates for human sacrifices, ipso facto it must mean it’s curtains for us all.

Perhaps not all. We survived the hell-on-earth that was Y2K. We also saw The Postman and The Road, twice (the book was no comic post-apocalypse romp, either). There’s a chance a small band of plucky humans, adequately prepared and supplied, will make it through the End of Days and repopulate the earth.

If uninhibited repopulation isn’t an incentive to live, we don’t know what is. So, in the spirit of the occasion, Alibaba’s Pam Muñoz trolled the Alibaba.com website for survival items both essential and non-essential and put together the infographic below. We’re pretty sure household pets will be on the menu after Dec. 21, so you might want to skip the doggie costume. As for the rest, better order now, and pay extra for overnight delivery.
