I’ve always been a little leery of LinkedIn (both from a personal and professional standpoint), but lately I’ve been digging a little deeper into the network. And you know what? There’s so much more to do on and with LinkedIn than I ever thought. I realize this sounds pretty naïve coming from a self-proclaimed lover of all things marketing, but hey, we all have our downfalls, right?
As blasé as I’ve been about LinkedIn, I do have a personal profile set up and some professional connections. For the most part, I use LinkedIn as a way to connect with other professionals, with little to no strategy for connecting. Occasionally, I read some articles that show up in my feed and even more sporadically, I have shared a few of my Mainstreethost blog posts on the platform.
That about sums up the extent of my LinkedIn usage and it’s a sad story because I’ve been overlooking some of the more helpful, educational and useful resources that LinkedIn offers.
While using LinkedIn personally is different from using it as a business, as a marketer it makes me wonder how many businesses are failing to see the significant opportunity that “the world’s largest professional network” offers?
In light of my own naïveté and my attempt to become better versed with a social network that’s only becoming more of a social powerhouse, I have compiled a list of some of the most impactful LinkedIn statistics I’ve come across.
And with the help of infographic designer extraordinaire, Kathryn, here are the 9 riveting statistics that will convince you to sign up for LinkedIn immediately in one easy-to-read infographic:

Maybe these stats will convince you to get on LinkedIn right away and take advantage of the opportunities it presents. Maybe they won’t. Either way, I ask you to seriously consider them and the prospects that await you.
