Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Flipboard 0 It can be hard to run a business yourself sometimes. Whether you’re busy focusing on profits or making sure your staff members are happy, it can be easy to lose track of things from time to time. How to be the most efficient in your business can be one of the key things that many people can lose track of in business. The Art of Efficiency Being efficient is the art in which you are able to effectively perform or designate any given task. This will vary from each business and each role, and sometimes being effective will simply just involve knowing who can best perform a specific task. Maya Angelou once said that ‘nothing will work unless you do’ – to be efficient at business, you have to work hard at it. So, what can be done to improve our efficiency? The latest infographic from Make It Cheaper has taken a look at effectiveness by introducing us to some of the lessons that the leading owners of small businesses around the world have learnt over the years about being most effective in their business – giving us the essential advice in helping us to improve how we work. Learning From Other Business Owners John Coleman, the founder and chairman of The VIA Agency, realised that when he initially started up his company he was being overambitious with his ideas and team. By having too many staff and having people everywhere, he was spreading the company’s resources and attention. The lesson learnt? To set realistic goals. By having clear goals that the business could focus on, he saw the difference in effectiveness and wasn’t wasting time and money on unnecessary resources. The lesson in efficiency that James Green, CEO of Magnetic, learnt was to stop taking things so personal. Having attachments to things that can affect your judgements and decisions will have severe effects on your business – so having a tough skin is necessary in business. Remember that the main purpose of your company is to make money so, as hard as it may be sometimes; try to not get distracted by anything else.
