“Always be yourself, express yourself,

have faith in yourself”

Bruce Lee

Have you ever thought about how much believing in yourself makes a difference in the quality of your life? A strong belief in yourself can bring you many benefits. Here are just a few:

1. You recognize your ability to accomplish goals.

2. You’re optimistic about the future as you set new goals and achieve them.

3. Deep down inside, you know you can almost do anything.

4. You treat yourself kindly.

5. You feel uplifted and more satisfied with life.

6. You’re motivated to get things done.

7. You have faith, no matter what.

8. You see and enjoy the abundance of life all around you.

9. Others feel attracted to you.

Who wouldn’t love enjoying these qualities of confidence and well being on a regular basis? The good news is that you can! Whether you feel lacking in this area or just want to strengthen your belief for the extra added benefits, try a few of these ideas to further develop your belief. Make the choice to be proactive in fortifying your belief in yourself. Here are a few ways to do that:

1. Have confidence in your own abilities to get things done. Be your own cheerleader, your own best advocate and encourage yourself to get things done. Learn to break large tasks into achievable portions. Then even when things are tough and your spirits are low, you will still have confidence and know that you can get the job done.

2. Create dreams. Whether it’s getting the career you want, obtaining more training, meeting someone you really admire, traveling abroad or setting a goal to save a certain amount of money, connect with your dreams. Where you come from, the money that you make and the people you hang out with are small things compared to the dreams that you can create for yourself. Dreams are often focused on what you want for yourself in the future. When you believe in your dreams, you can also believe in you!

3. Establish goals and go for the gold. Believing in yourself means you’re self-motivated enough to achieve the things you want to get done. Get into the habit of setting goals. Make both short term and long term goals. Then, you can take active steps to achieve each of them.

4. Treat yourself well. Treating yourself with a nurturing nature and having the understanding that you’re a deserving human being is an important aspect of developing a sound belief in yourself. Pamper yourself when you desire it. Recognize and expect that others should treat you with respect.

5. Keep your motivation high. Remember that childhood story about “The Little Engine That Could?” When you want to accomplish your task with excellence and achieve your goals, this little story is an incredible testament to your level of motivation. Build the momentum to fuel your motivation, and keep moving forward.

6. Keep the faith. Especially during tough times, you have got to keep the faith. No one is immune to experiencing rocky chapters in their lives. But if you really believe in yourself, you can meet those challenging phases with a positive, solid fortitude. You’ll push forward, move through those trying moments and you’ll come out on the other side better, smarter, stronger and surer of yourself.

7. Recognize the abundance that you already have. Regardless of what stage of life you’re living, search for the good all around you. Search for the good in everyone and in every thing that you encounter. Get the most you can from each moment of life. Ask yourself: Is the chair you’re sitting in reasonably comfortable? Are you safe and as warm as you want to be right now?

Whatever you love in life, be thankful. Have gratitude.

Believing in yourself is one of the most powerful choices you can make. Practice these strategies and discover the sheer joy and comfort of knowing you can do whatever it is you choose when you believe in yourself.
