Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Flipboard 0 Last week at the Facebook headquarters in California, Mark Zuckerberg announced the biggest update to the News Feed since first releasing the feature in 2006. The update can be divided into three major parts: a greater emphasis on images, more user control over content, and alignment with Facebook’s mobile app experiences. “We want to give everyone in the world the best personalized newspaper in the world,” said Zuckerberg. Users now have several different News Feeds to choose between. In addition to “Top Stories” and “Most Recent,” there is now the option to only see posts made by friends or by pages, as well as image-only feeds. This new focus on images is perhaps the biggest trend. During the press conference, Zuckerberg announced that 50 percent of posts now contain images. The updated News Feed will feature pictures much more prominently and in more quality than before. The new look, which was inspired by mobile, according to Mashable, will be more consistent with the apps on smartphones and tablets. Facebook was quiet on how this will affect brands that use Facebook for marketing efforts, but you can bet that we’ll hear much more about that as the new News Feed rolls out. To help you prepare, we’ve parsed through as much information as we can to bring you our latest tip sheet that shows some easy steps to optimize your content so that your brand gets the most out of the News Feed.
