There’s No Such Thing as Free Coffee

In case you haven’t already heard, there’s a Facebook scam going around.

Preying on our weakness for caramel frappuccinos and pumpkin spice lattes, the scam promises you a free $50 gift card to Starbucks.

To get the “deal,” you have to ‘like’ the page and share it with your Facebook friends.

By sharing the deal, you probably think you’re doing something nice for your friends, but instead, the scammer will now have access to your Facebook friends’ accounts and their personal information as well.

Now your friends’ walls will end up having this Starbucks scam on it (posted like it’s from you) and you won’t have any free coffee to show for it. Sad face.

If this happens, change your password right away. You can also start going through your friends’ walls and deleting any posts you inadvertently spread.

Updating your Facebook status to warn your friends about the scam is another great way to keep the scam from spreader further.
